What made this difficult was that the error messages did not provide much of a clue as to what the actual problem was. Have tried this solution and 3 or 4 others I found on the net, and still getting the same error message. Don't forget to stop the windows update service first. If above steps doesn't worked then do some more steps mentioned below. 6.
