I haven't completed all your suggestions, but I did remove 4 ram sticks and my computer seemed to not only speed up but I haven't blue screened since this post. I realized today that the power pack was now sitting on the floor right next to the cell phone charger cord(I wasn't charging my cell phone during these shutdowns).
